San Diego, California Fires Subsiding

I have family in California, not in San Diego but in California none the less so the story of these over-whelming fires did concern me as they should concern us all.
SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- Winds that fanned wildfires calmed to single-digit speeds Thursday, while the lifting of evacuation orders allowed thousands of Californians to return to check on their homes. The fires that began last weekend have destroyed 1,436 homes, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Wednesday. One person was killed in the blazes, state officials reported. Five others, all senior citizens, died during or after evacuation, and 78 people, including at least 36 firefighters, were injured. At one point, almost 1 million people were under evacuation orders as fires burned from the Mexican border to northern Los Angeles County. Overnight Wednesday, officials permitted residents of 13 communities to return home after San Diego County and the city of San Diego announced evacuation orders had been lifted. Yet about 76,000 people were forced to stay in 42 shelters Wednesday night, county emergency spokeswoman Lynda Pfieffer said. Read the rest of this story here.
I hope that you all are praying for not only the situation in California but for our communities, cities, and our Nation as a whole.
Blessings, Regina

I can't even begin to imagine what these people and their families are going through. I am keeping them in my prayers.

I work with a woman who has family in San Diego and the first night they were able to talk to them, but the second night the family was evacuated and they haven't been able to contact them yet. What a difficult time to be going through. Thanks for reminding us all that we need to consider others and pray for everyone.

There are so many to keep in our prayers. I can't even imagine what those poor people are feeling.
I hope they recieve the help that they need.

Take care,
Connie
