What Happens When You Google Your Name?

I was over at Gill's and read her post on Googling your own name. So I had to come back here and tell you about it. Yes I googled my name and this is what I found:
I popped up 4 times... once when I won a Smokie Norful DVD; once when I sent in a testimonial for a marketing company; and twice my name was mentioned in the annual report for my job(the report is on line).
But then I found:
  1. A Regina S***** who is a Art Teacher in Branson Missouri.
  2. A Regina S***** who won 4th place in Springfield MO at a Hobby Craft Fair for a dried flower arrangement
  3. A Regina S***** in Tucson AZ. who signed a petition in protest against the Senate vote to allow illegal immigrants access to Social Security Benefits.

I don't know about you but I find this very weird! Thanks Gill for suggesting this!

I was then over at AJ's and read some disturbing news. If you type a phone number into the Google search engine and then hit enter, your name and address pop up along with a map to your home! Now that is very frightening!

Wow, technology what would we do without it...

I love to google names - the names of my family, etc. It is just fun to see what comes up. Also, it is fun to see where you are in the internet world...I haven't googled my name lately though. I will have to try it again soon.

The number thing though---really scary! I guess my phone number is listed so I knew people could get that...but a map to my front door- yikes!

You can block that phone number thing. After you type the number in, click on it and you then you click on "request to have your name removed from this list." I did that quite a while ago because I don't like how it easy it is to find someone with just their phone number.

The phone number...that's scary. Freaky, freak scary. I have tried it few minutes ago and I'm relieved Google came up with nothing.

even if you get the number blocked from google, it'll show up in www.zabasearch.com sometimes your birth month and year'll show as well.
