Sandy is right, Santa Claus was a friend of Christ. His good works made him a myth that was passed down through the years. People began to worship the myth and not the truth.

There is a handcrafted figurine of this picture. It is called "The myth bowing down to the Truth". I think St. Nicholas would thank the person who made the picture and the figurine, because they depict his true heart.
