Hi There Bloggers!!

Hi there, I am back! You may ask where have I been, well...
My blog has been plagued with pop ups, pop unders (I never knew there was such a thing as pop unders!)and Trojans (Thanks for the heads up AJ!). Yes, I came by my spot on Monday and as soon as the blog loaded I got ads from every agency selling stuff from trucks to booty (Yes that's right booty, as in porn ads!). I was disgusted, but mostly pissed off because my family can tell you I pride myself on keeping a clean computer. I mean, I run defrag, antivirus software, adware software, spy ware software, etc. I run countless scans on my pc on a regular basis, so imagine the horror when I saw not only pop ups but pop unders! Ugh!! So with all of this scanning going on I have not been in the mood to visit my blogging friends, sorry but when things don't go the way they should I get upset...
I have been running scans on my pc for the past 2 days trying to find the culprit. So I finally decided, with the help of my girl AJ that I had to back track to the weekend and undo whatever I recently did. This would have been an easy fix BUT blogger would not cooperate with me. There is something going on with blogger that stops you from scrolling down and seeing all of your page elements and the editor function was also not working.
But me, being the smart as a whip person that I am (Thanks MOM!) found a way around blogger's issue and I was able to delete from my sidebar the widget that I deemed to be the culprit and just to make sure it was clean, I removed a couple of other things!! Also a google group help person told me that rankwidget[dot]com often has hidden scripts that ushers in pop ups (shame on you rankwidget!!)
So after all of that deleting I went back to view my blog and VIOLA!!!! No more pops at all. My blog once again has a clean bill of health!
So moral of this story be very careful of the "Bells & Whistles" that you add to your blog because some of them come with hidden surprises!
Run regular scans and then scan some more. If things start acting crazy, immediately undo what you just did!
Once my head clears I'll be by your spot to say HELLO!!

Peace & Love

Hi Regina - I see you over at Marva's board all the time and wanted to stop by.

Your granddaughter is lovely and you have a great site here. Bells and Whistles can be a pain in the butt. Glad you got things worked out.

Pam 12 March, 2008 17:10

I'm so sorry to hear you had all that trouble! Glad it got cleared up for you now!

Talk..to..Grams 12 March, 2008 17:50

Hi, I was over here the other day and it was slow and almost froze up. But it looks like it is just fine now!!! I didn't know how to tell you it wasn't working very good cause I could not get the comments to come up! But it looks like all is well! Praise God! Love and hugs Grams

Melanie 12 March, 2008 17:58

Oh my goodness. I am so glad you got it all worked out and fixed.

Sharon Brumfield 12 March, 2008 20:56

I know all that can be a pain in the patoot.
My brother finally got me to switch to a mozilla tool bar because he said it is safer. I think it works great. And it does a spell check as you type. I love that.

hey it hapened to me to hd to re write all my html line by line welcome back

Regina 12 March, 2008 21:43

@ Danielle - Thanks for visiting! Glad you came by after the pop up fiasco, That is not how I want a new visitor to see my site! Thanks, Danayja is beautiful, but of course I am biased! Come back soon!

@Pam - It was very frustrating, I even considered deleting my blog!! Hey nice new picture!

@ Grams - thanks for thinking of me, someone else came by my blog and then emailed me about it. At first I thought the problem was my computer, but the email let me know it was actually my blog! Whew, I'm glad that's over!

@ Melanie - You know how I hate clutter, it was driving me crazy. Blogger should get some sort of system where they can scan blogs for this kind of thing, that would have been helpful!

@ Sharon - I recently switched to Firefox which is a Mozilla browser but I did all these changes in one weekend so at one point I thought the bug was actually in Firefox, but then found out it wasn't. I love the spell check feature and also the synchronizing bookmarks feature, since I add and delete blogs from my bookmarks regularly and use my desktop & my laptop that synchronizing has been an awesome help!

So, that explains it! The other day I went to leave you and comment and I ended up with hardcore porn pop-ups on my screen. (The kind that made this 31 year old, married for 11 years, mother of three... BLUSH!!!) I was telling my SIL about it. I told her there is no way that Regina would be wanting this to happen, so it must have been a fluke. I didn't realize that you could even get spam embedded in our blogs. WOW! But now that you explain it, it does make sense. And another thing that surprised me is that the pop-ups even came up on my computer. I have a great pop-up blocker installed and I don't usually have any problems. It must have been pretty strong SPAM...lol!!! But anyway, I am glad that you got it all worked out now. :o)

That is good that you got that fixed, because those pop-ups were gettin' ridiculous. I figured something funky was going on with a program within your blog.

Luckily I had my Norton on and kids put to sleep because some obscene stuff was spewing from your site.

I'm glad you're back and clean :)

Shelia 13 March, 2008 13:46

Hi Regina!

Glad you got your blog fixed. I missed the freak show, lol. As you are aware, I had a freak show of my own going on.

You know I thought that blogger would not scroll all the way down for awhile myself on the page of elements, but it actually does, it's slightly tricky, but it does.

common mom 13 March, 2008 15:25

I was wondering where you'd been!

So sorry - I HATE it when my computer gets messed up. I usually bribe one of the IT guys from work to visit my house and help out. I, too, run all the stuff you do and it's just so annoying when you STILL get stuff.

Glad you got it worked out - and glad you're back!

freetofly 15 March, 2008 17:38

You rock, Regina! You just kick booty and take names! SO glad to know you didn't stop until you got it right! And thanks for looking out for everyone else & giving us the heads up!!

Hope your weekend is going really fantastic!

I went through the same crap last month. I was so pissed. I couldn't get anything to work. But I got a good registry cleaner from my cousin the computer whiz and now I'm running smoothly.

But those pop-ups and pop-unders are a pain the a**!

Good thing you got it all fixed.

Andrea 17 March, 2008 14:41

How frustrating!!
I haven't had such issues (yet!), but if I do...at least my next door neighbor is a computer genius!!

Rosemarie 18 March, 2008 02:08

Well, I missed some show over here being busy and upset in my world. Nevertheless, I'm back and so are you.

Trojan's, pop ups, and pop unders are a real drag and can bring anyone down. So glad you were resourceful and called in the troops to help!
