Old School Friday # 8 ~Wedding Songs~

You Know What It Is!!!!
It is...FRIDAY!! Which is my favorite day of the week because I get to post my "Old School Friday" Picks! In case you are new around these parts and don't know what "Old School Friday" is, well it is grown folks MUSIC! Yes we post some music that comes from some time before 2000, hopefully to relive some memories, and to educate or just entertain each other.
Ms Grapevine and MarvalusOne have teamed up to create a meme titled Old School Friday and since I love my music I had to sign up to join! If you want to join in the Old School Fun then go HERE for the guidelines.
Ms Grapevine and Marvalus One decided to add a little twist to Old School Friday. That twist is that now they are assigning a Theme, Artist, Era, or Genre. The OSF theme for this week is wedding songs: songs you got married to or songs you would like played at your wedding. Ms. Grapevine is in a sentimental mood! So join in and post your favorite wedding song or just visit the other participants and enjoy the music!!
Here are the other "Old School Friday" participants:

- Electronic Village - Chatting Over Cocktails -

- Ms Grapevine -Quick -Marcus LANGFORD

- Cassandra - Danielle -Lisa C

-Chocl8t - DP - Kreative Talk

-MarvalusOne - Regina - LaShonda

-AJ - Sharon - Invisible Woman

-Rosemarie - Dee - SJP - sHaE-sHaE

I Love Old School Friday so much that I have decided to supply three selections. Yes, I will be using all three of these for my wedding! And they are:

Etta James - At Last

Brian McKnight - Love Of My Life

And last but not least, I am dedicating my all time favorite wedding song to my girl Bre Bre!
Rachell Ferrell & Will Downing - Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This

So there you have it! Grab someone you love, take them for a twirl around the dance floor, and let them know how much you love them!

Peace & Love!

Regina, Rachelle Ferrell and Will Downing's "Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This", girrrrl you gon' get me in trouble, or give somebody a very nice weekend, lol!

Etta James' "At Last," just one of the most beautifully soulful, classic renditions of that song. No one has ever done it better.

Don't like Brian McKnight.

Girl you be diggin' deep on Fridays!

Absolutely love Rachell Ferrell!!! I saw her once in concert - the sistah is bad! Great picks.

i love 'em all regina. see, i got an old soul and these songs really move me, not just for what they serve for weddings, but they are genuinely passionate songs. love 'em!

“At Last” is a great choice! I also enjoyed that video clip of the movie Funny Face. I need to rent that!

yawl old school friday folks roll like crips or Bloods. LOL

MrsGrapevine 11 April, 2008 12:24

I like the Rachel Ferrell song, that is a classic. For me it's more of a honeymoon song, know what I'm saying.

I'm surprised no one played Atlantic Star, Peaches & Herb, or Asford & Simpson.

OK, I knew no would play Asford & Simpson. :)

At Last is the jam.

Hello from New York! I have a lot of music blogs. Some songs that I think would be great at weddings are:

Percy Sledge "When a Man Loves a Woman"
The Dixie Cups "Chapel of Love"
Air Supply "Every Woman in the World"
Barbra Streisand "Woman in Love"
Kim Carnes "More Love"
Bee Gees "More Than a Woman"
Bee Gees "How Deep Is Your Love"

Just some ideas.

I need to stop by your actual page more often so I can smile at the pics of your grandbaby. Cutie pie.

I just knew you were going to show up and show out with three GREAT songs. "At Last" is the ultimate wedding song. We'll see how Beyonce does with this in the movie of Etta's life...IF they have her singing.

Will Downing and Rachelle...mmmm, ya'll are showing out with the ULTIMATE duets. I LOVE THIS. As Grapevyne said, that is truly missing in music today.

Great choices.
