Sunday's Message... My Tattoo!!

Hi People!!
It is Sunday morning and for some reason I feel the need to share something with you all. I was thinking about this last night and decided to put it out there in the blogosphere! So sit with me a minute so that I can tell you about the awesomeness of God!! I have a tattoo on my shoulder, yes the picture is actually my tattoo. The tattoo says "JEGAR". Now you may wonder what is that? Well it is a name, but not just any name though, it is a name that has a Hebrew & Aramaic meaning. It is very detailed and intricate on a Bible Scholar level (which I am not!) but I'll give the basic definitions...

Jegar-Sahadutha -
Meaning: pile of testimony
the Aramaic or Syriac name which Laban gave to the pile of stones erected as a memorial of the covenant between him and Jacob (Gen. 31:47), who, however, called it in Hebrew by an equivalent name, Galeed

Galeed -
Meaning: heap of witness
the name of the pile of stones erected by Jacob and Laban to mark the league of friendship into which they entered with each other (Gen. 31:47, 48)

So, plainly speaking "Jegar" is a testimony or a witness! (See now wasn't that easy?)

So now this is where things get interesting!
If you have read ANYTHING on my blog than you know I am all about my family. I have five children and THEY are my witness, my testimony, so to speak. No, I mean they are REALLY my testimony (I could tell you some stories...)! My children are a gift from God, and I thank Him daily for them!

When my oldest daughter turned 18, she wanted a tattoo. At first I was like, DEFINITELY NOT! But then we discussed it, prayed about it and ultimately I said Ok. And I went with her. So I always wanted one and decided to get one also. But I wasn't getting anything stupid, that I would regret later! so I decided to get my kids names tattooed on me BUT that involved a lot of needle work, and yea, I am not a fan of needles, so I had a plan...

I took the first letter of the middle names of my children, in the order of their birth (Oldest - Youngest) which spelled "JEGAR", and had that put inside of a heart and tada! My tattoo was born!
Now, at the time did I know what Jegar meant? Definitely NOT! But to me my children's names in a heart made perfect sense. I could have used the initials of their first name but I didn't (still can't figure that one out!).

I do NOT believe in Luck or Coincidence. My steps are ordered by God! Did God know that one day I would get a tattoo? Definitely! Did God know that I would get my kids names? Definitely! Did God know the names of my kids and order of their births? Definitely! Did God know I would choose their middle names and not their first for my tattoo? Definitely!

So, I don't know about you but I am in AWE of the sheer genius and the intricateness of God's plans!

what a nice coincidence! we have a family friend too who has 4 kids, she named her kids, Florence, Anne, Irving and Therence. It was another friend who told her that her kids' names ( first letters) are spelled FAITH.

Wow! That is awesome :-) Thanks for sharing

Wow you put a lot of thought into your tat Regina. I put a total of about 45 minutes into the thought with my first(and only)tat. :)

It looks nice.

MsMarvalus 01 June, 2008 11:47

That is an awesome story!

My first tat is simply a butterfly on my ankle and it took me all of 15 minutes to decide on it...

The next one? It has taken me 3 years to decide but I have figured out what it is going to be...stay tuned...

What a neat "coincidence". I really want one...but don't know what I want.

Awww, that's so sweet, who would have known??

I don't believe it was an accident either. We don't know why certain things happen when they do, it is what it is.

I love the idea of your guest posts, can't wait to read what they have to say on Tuesday's!

That's very cool. I've been wanting a tatoo also but I don't want to get anything corny or something that's not gonna look good in a couple of years, if you know what I mean.

R.L.Scovens 01 June, 2008 17:26

Wow! That's really weird! I'm glad it didn't turn out to be something awful!LOL

Shellie 02 June, 2008 00:13

That is so sweet! Somehow I doubt the Santiago Wanderers insignia on my hubby's arm is ever going to turn out to be something that neat.

That God of ours- He really knows what He's doing, doesn't He??

1stopmom 02 June, 2008 21:51

Wow, that definitely is intense. I agree with you and I am in awe too. That is definitely is proof that there is bigger plan.

Awesome! Your tattoo is a testament to the covenant relationship with your children.

There’s nothing better than hearing about divine connections, well unless you’re the one having the spiritual light bulb moment. *choir singing*

In our walk with God we can all find a particular situation or circumstance where we come to terms that "God knew" what we would do [right or wrong, good or bad].
