Old School Friday #21 "Old School Hip Hop"

You Know What It Is!!!!
It is...FRIDAY!! Which is my favorite day of the week because I get to post my "Old School Friday" Picks! In case you are new around these parts and don't know what "Old School Friday" is, well it is grown folks MUSIC! Yes we post some music that comes from some time before 1999, (hopefully) to relive some memories, and to educate or just entertain each other.
Ms Grapevine and MarvalusOne have teamed up to create a meme titled Old School Friday and since I love my music I had to sign up to join! To join in the Old School Friday Fun go Here for guidelines.

The theme for this week ,

"Old School Hip Hop"

Here are the other "Old School Friday" participants:

- Electronic Village - Fresh And Fab - Kim

- Ms Grapevine -Quick -Marcus LANGFORD

- Cassandra - Danielle - iriegal -Hagar's Daughter - Lisa C

-Chocl8t - DP - Dallassouth - Kreative Talk

-Marvalus One - Regina - Clnmike - Vivrant Thing

-AJ - Sharon - The Creole Pimp - Invisible Woman

-Beleiver 1964 - Cooper - SJP - sHaE-sHaE

This was a pretty hard theme to do while staying in compliance with the rules! First of all in my humble opinion Hip Hop back in my day (80's - 90's) was so much better than the garbage I hear today! So it was definitely hard picking two videos to post, and do believe I spent 3 HOURS on you tube last night jamming to some old school Hip Hop!
(This first song was THE BEST song to "Wop" off of!!!)

Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew - All the Way to Heaven

Yo Yo - You Can't Play With My Yo-Yo

I know there will be a lot of awesome videos today, so please go by and visit the others!

What ever happened to the female rapper in Hip Hop? I saw Yo Yo backstage at the Essence Festival a few years ago. She still looked great.

iriegal 11 July, 2008 13:36

Yo Yo was the sistah back in the day.I did M.C.Lyte. These were some hard core sistahs.

YOu brought it on strong today sis. Glad you are back. I am just settling in myself

MrsGrapevine 11 July, 2008 15:07

I'm still doing the wave, it's continuing from blog to blog. I'm so happy today, I feel like breaking out all the old moves. You are the first to break out Doug E. He has so many hits, like 6 minutes and Lodi Dodi.

I loved me some Yo-Yo. she had one song about girl power that I really loved, but I can't think of it right now.
