Old School Friday #38 "T.G.I.O. - Thank God It's Over"

Hi There Bloggers!!
You Know What today is... Old School Friday!
In case you are new around these parts and don't know what "Old School Friday" is, well it is grown folks MUSIC! Yes we post some music that comes from some time before 1999, (hopefully) to relive some memories, and to educate or just entertain each other.
Ms Grapevine and MarvalusOne have teamed up to create a meme titled Old School Friday and since I love my music I had to sign up to join! To join in the Old School Friday Fun go Here for guidelines.

This has been a long election, and has affected everyone in one shape or another. Our theme this week is T.G.I.O. - Thank God It's Over. This can go so many ways. It could be a "victory" song, it can be a "last stand" song, it can be an "anything but politics" song, or it can be"what ever you like"...

The theme for this week ,

"T.G.I.O. - Thank God It's Over"

The campaign is over, the last ballot counted and the election has been held. President -Elect Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States. HOWEVER, He can not do it alone. The election may be over but the hard work has just begun. I hope all those millions of voters will not prove to be "Fair Weather Friends" once the excitement wears off. We all need to get up and do our part to restore this country to greatness...

Ben E. King - Stand By Me

Mary, Mary - Get Up

very relevant comments and music.

Happy OSF Regina!

These are both great choices, but I gotta admit you had me for sure with Ben E. King. I think "Stand By Me", is a great selection to demonstrate the spirit of what comes now for all of us as we each do our part to make sure this brother succeeds. Like you said, and as he knows, there is no way he can scale this mountain alone. We gots to stand by the man.

Kim 07 November, 2008 10:26

Happy OSF! Great choices. And you're right, Barack can't do it alone. Americans (especially Black folk) gotta do better individually to make this country live up to its promise.

Hey Shae! 07 November, 2008 10:34

You can't go wrong with Benny. That is an all time favorite. :-D

MrsGrapevine 07 November, 2008 15:25

Oh how I love Stand by Me. Interesting choice, but well suited. We need to continue our part by helping our communities.

MsMarvalus 07 November, 2008 18:25

Great choice with "Stand By Me"...

"Get Up" is growing on me...

Tha Connoisseur 07 November, 2008 19:09

Stand By Me - no doubt. Love the pick. I hope that everyone stays behind him indeed, to show the naysayers that his is not a fad or a passing fancy - this is their life.

Villager 07 November, 2008 19:40

Happy OSF! Stand By Me is outstanding selection...

'Thank God It's Over' is the theme. I invite your blog readers to check out 'Right Now (We Need One Another' if they have time or inclinaton. This song had its debut earlier this week on Oprah. Come check it out!

Stand By Me is a perfect selection and, btw, a great song too!

I posted a link to a video on another moment in Presidential history that reminded me strongly of this one and I also used this OSF to pay tribute to a friend I lost this week.

I thank you for stopping by and making a comment, Regina!
