Feeling overworked and underpaid, you feel like you could spit nails. Get home from work and the house is a mess, the kids are going crazy like they lost their minds AND there is no dinner waiting... What do you do???
Well, you could have sex and work off all the frustrations but if you are single like some of us (and don't want to go there!) just grab a bottle of wine, close your room door and listen to this:

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - Nina Simone

Here Comes The Sun - Nina Simone

Let It Go - Lalah Hathaway

By now the wine should be gone and you should be mellowed out and ready to face the world! Oh and by now if your kids are like mine and can read the signs, by the time you come out of that room, the house is picked up and dinner is done or at least being cooked, and nobody has to die tonight!!!!!!!

Nina crossed my mind. I've been replenishing my music library with her. I went with the let off steam side of the long or bad day theme. Really liked Hathaway. Happy OSF!

Regina, You picked 2 baad sistas. I'm Lovin' it! Happy OSF.

Kim 27 March, 2009 09:20

Great choices. People are killing it with the Nina Simone today and I'm loving it.

Happy OSF!

Marvalus 27 March, 2009 10:18

Ahh, Ms. Nina...love her!

Fantastic choices!

MrsGrapevine 27 March, 2009 10:25

I love Nina Simone, but it has the opposite affect on me. It makes me want to stab my co-worker, instead of blessing them.

Her songs take me to place, and they are usually accompanied with a glass of wine, so that I can maintain my peace.

Love Nina Simone, but somebody may get hurt...especially, "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood."

Happy OSF Regina!

I really like this combination of the old and the new you've got here. And wow...Nina Simone. Now that's one I would not have thought of, but she's perfect. And I love the civil rights video accompanying her first number.

Lalah Hathaway just has some of the smoothest pipes...

LOL @ Mrs. Grapevine! Step away from the steak knives...

I love Lala--She is one of those who I just wish could get much, much more airtime than she does.

Thanks for the picks--and Happy OSF!

Hagar's Daughter 27 March, 2009 21:57

Regina,
I stopped here last night before calling it a night. I couldn't leave a comment because I cried for 1/2 hour after listening to Ms. Nina. I just needed to release some emotional stuff I'm carrying.
Ms. Nina reached way down and grabbed hold to something. Lord, have mercy.

Whew...Have a great weekend.

msladydeborah 27 March, 2009 23:00

Alrighty!

Nina and Lalah-now that's a winning ticket!

Great post. I loves me some Nina! I've really been listening to her a lot lately.

And Lalah is still growing and singing her face off!

Great choices Regina!
Happy OSF!
