Youth In The Church

Church + Youth = ???
What does Church plus Youth equal? It should equal breakthrough, it should equal deliverance, it should equal Youth who are on fire for the Lord. However sometime the youth of the church get lost, overlooked, left out. They are often not taught the value of bringing their service to God's kingdom. Often they are NOT taught that GOD values them and their gifts and their talents that they bring to the table. This is why I believe a lot of youth are lost in the world. Adults make their children come to church and when they get there they are ignored. They are Preached at, Yelled at, Talked at, but rarely ministered to. If God gave us all gifts and talents what makes adults think that youth have to wait until they are older in order to use their gifts? With today's technology the youth if today come with a skill set that we never had back in the day!
Satan is snatching up our kids and using them to further his own goals. We are leaving our youth open to attack and ill prepared to fight spiritual battles. Youth should not be sequestered to the church basement and left to run a muck. They should be trained and taught just as we are so that they are prepared to serve God and give HIM their best. I am tired of seeing youth with talents and gifts using them for ill gain. Bring those gifts HOME and use them to help strengthen the BODY OF CHRIST! Youth should be serving right along side the adults, giving God their best!

We have to keep the our youth active, engaged, and invested in the church (Church meaning Body NOT just building!).
Last month March 4, 2011m the Potter's House of Fort Worth held a Youth event called IGNITE. Ignite was a Youth Event for ages 13-25 held on March 4, 2011. Purposed to edify, uplift and bless God through dance, spoken word, song, music, and other forms of artistry! I believe there is another youth event in the makings. I will keep you updated on that! Pastor Faison is endeavoring to teach the youth to ignite their lives for Christ. It was awesome to see the array of youth who came out to use their gifts and talents to not only edify GOD but to help usher others into the Kingdom. Their were over 300 youth in attendance and various artists who shared their craft with us!

Those who ministered were:

Ange-Aimee, Anointed Flames, Big Nick, Chinessa, Flight Squad, GFSoldier, Hoszia Hinds, Jordan Baker, Kelsee Starr, Kingdom Impact, Loren Perry, Marc Q, Ordered Steps Productions, Sade Lee, Samiya Coooper, Solon'n, Steps of Praise, and YoungPraise!

I applaud these youth for using their gift to God's glory! The bible says in 1 Timothy 4:12-15,

12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.

Let me tell you, those who came out were blessed and had a fabulous time in the Lord!
I have a few shots of the event as well as a youtube video!

If you take your children to church urge them to get involved! Let them see YOU involved! YOU, the parent are the first teachers/role models! One of Pastor Faison's favorite sayings is, "It's NOT what we SAY, It's what WE DO"! So if you want your youth to be involved, to impact the world for God, they have to see YOU impacting the world for God! The Father wants your service in the House!
