CONGRATULATIONS to the USA OLYMPIC WOMEN GYMNASTICS TEAM!!! The FAB FIVE comprised of  Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, and Kyla Ross took the first place GOLD MEDAL yesterday in the women's team competition beating out Russia and Romania.  The young ladies, all of whom are under the age of 18, worked hard and received the ultimate reward for their hard work and sacrifice.  USA has not taken the women's team competition gymnastics gold since 1996 (Atlanta Olympics) when the then Magnificent Seven comprised of ( Shannon MillerDominique MoceanuDominique DawesKerri StrugAmy ChowAmanda Borden, and Jaycie Phelps.) beat out Russia and Romania for the gold. I remember watching that 1996 Olympics and cheering and crying as Kerri Strug stuck her landing on one foot since she had previously hurt her ankle! THAT WAS AN AWESOME MOMENT for Kerri and for USA!Of course the 2012 Olympics did not have a moment as breath taking as landing a vault on one leg like in 1996 HOWEVER a midst stricter rules, more judge scrutiny, and a smaller number of team members the FAB FIVE were VICTORIOUS in the team competition. GOLD MEDAL BABY!!!!!

*A quick side note* Winning the Gold was a TEAM EFFORT in a TEAM competition.  I understand and realize that Gabby Douglas was the only African American on that team and for that I give her props because she is now a role model to many little African American girls world wide who never see their race as a force in the gymnastic world. HOWEVER, let us NOT discount the sacrifices, and efforts that all the other young ladies put forth. The FAB FIVE won a GOLD MEDAL in the women's TEAM competition.  I am tired of reading about how Gabby is not getting enough air time or enough shine. People should stop race baiting and let the FAB FIVE TEAM enjoy their accomplishment!

I applaud ALL the ladies of the USA OLYMPIC WOMEN GYMNASTIC TEAMJordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, and Kyla Ross!!! CONGRATULATIONS LADIES!! WELL DONE!!
