Christians, Mormons, and The Race To The White House!

I do not understand what it is about election season that gets people so crazy!
You all have free choice so pick one and vote!  I think a political campaign should be able to be conducted without stooping to disparaging, racist, sexist, and demonizing attacks.

I also cannot understand the hoards of people who say they will NOT vote!  WHAT?? REALLY?  Women and people of color had to fight for the chance to vote, people died to give certain groups of people the right to vote and you are telling me that no matter what your ancestors had to go through YOU ARE FREELY DECIDING TO NOT VOTE? This act renders what your ancestors lived through or DIED for invalid.
HOWEVER, I think what makes me shake my head the most is the religious people who use their religion as cause to not vote, or as voting requirement in a candidate.  John F Kennedy was a Catholic! I have heard and seen where people are saying that they will not vote for Romney because he is a Mormon who wants to ban all abortions.  Well, if he is trying to ban all abortions then shouldn't you "righteous, religious" people be all for him and his plans?  I have heard people say that they will not vote for Obama because he is a Christian BUT is in favor of gay marriage. I did not know we were voting for a President of the heterosexual, Christian elite.  I thought we were attempting to elect a President of the United States of AMERICA, the President of ALL of America's people, the black white, gay, straight, Hispanic, young, and old alike.
Guess what, Gay people vote! They also live in America and have a vested interest in what happens with our country.  Guess what else? Women have gotten abortions for years, they have gone from back alleys and wire hangers, to clinics and hospitals with sterile instruments and safe environments.  Are these two issues really all you care about in a President?  I abhor IGNORANCE!  Most of the arguments I have been hearing and reading are based on being a Christian or a Mormon.  Come on People, it is a little more intense than that!
Being a Christian does NOT mean that the President will ONLY consider Christian issues in his tenure.  Likewise being a Mormon does NOT mean that the President will only consider Mormon issues in his tenure!  People do your research!  Vote for the guy who most closely represents what YOU WANT or NEED from America.  Vote for the man who most closely matches YOUR plan of action for the country you live in.  If you are THAT torn between the two, PRAY ABOUT IT and think pick the lesser of two evils!  DO NOT let your church, your Pastor, your family, or even your party dictate your vote.  Do YOUR OWN research, read up on the issues. VOTE FOR YOUR BEST INTEREST!
BUT make NO mistake EVERYONE who is of voting age NEEDS TO VOTE!  If you need to register to vote go to ROCK THE VOTE and get it done!

Be Blessed All,
Regina
