The best thing about cold weather is cooking! The house smells good and extra warmth is thrown into the air! What do you cook when the weather is cold? Texas does not get too much winter weather so I have to take advantage of it when it does come. This past week was a perfect example. I made some homemade chicken soup and it was fabulous! I think the best thing about soups is that you can put just about anything in it. Mine was not your traditional soup with potatoes, carrots, etc. I went a different route (Besides I had no potatoes or carrots!!). My soup was chicken, corn, kidney beans, black beans, and string beans as well as some small thin pasta! I had some frozen corn on the cob so I just cut the corn off the cob and threw it in the soup! Man, oh man was it delicious! This soup was done in about 20 minutes! Quick, easy and delicious! I even took a picture to share with you!

I like chili or a big pot of beans with smoked turkey legs to be eaten with brown rice. Family loves gumbo but I don't eat it.
I love split pea soup and I'm going to make some soon!
Love you :-))
Hi Pat!!
I DO NOT like split pea soup! My mom made it for us a lot when I was a child and the best thing about it was picking out the big chunks of ham and eating it!!
I had the soup and it was good. What I like to cook is a hearty beef stew. I haven't made any yet this year, but it's coming.
