Racism, Sexism, Yes This Is America!

I often hear people say, "I'm NOT into politics" and every time I hear that I think or say "Then you better be into JESUS"! This world that we know and sometimes love is spiraling out of control. Times are crucial and PRAYER is REQUIRED, Prayer is NOT OPTIONAL!

You support what you believe in. If you believe in freedom and justice, than that is what you will support. Prayers REQUIRED! Our world is full of problems and Isms. Yes, I said Isms, like RACISM, SEXISM, FEMINISM, etc. I remember when I was young, we were taught a song and it was so cute and so simple and so inspirational. It was a song of unity, hope, and togetherness in our country.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

HOWEVER, a rarely sung, forgotten verse of this song is perhaps MORE INDICATIVE of the current climate of our beloved America. And they are ...

"In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the relief office I seen my people
As they stood there hungry,
I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?"

The writer of this song, Woody Guthrie, never meant this song to be a political statement, or a statement of unity and patriotism. He wrote the song as a parody or a critical response to Irving Berlin's song "God Bless America". Woody Guthrie penned this song in 1940 and this forgotten verse is STILL relevant today, 75 years later. This is CLEARLY an America that has a multitude of problems.
Whether you are a political activist, a community activist, a church activist, or any sort of activist, it is clear that America is in dire need of help. So I hope you answer the clarion call and get involved at some level. If you do not do your part (even if your part is simply PRAYING for those in leadership positions), then you become part of the problem. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. We can no longer just stick our heads in the sand and act like everything is fine. Action IS Required!

DON'T BE PART OF THE PROBLEM! DO YOUR PART! BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION!

Peace and Love All,
Regina
